Nujaba: Any Hostile Move Against Iran’s Leader Means Major War

Firas al-Yasser, a member of the political council of Iraq’s al-Nujaba Movement, has warned that any hostile move against the Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution would amount to the outbreak of a major war, stressing that the Iraqi people are ready, if necessary, to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Iranian nation in confronting the United States.

Hawzah News Agency- Speaking in reaction to threatening rhetoric by the US president against the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, al-Yasser said even contemplating an assault on Iran’s Leader would upend regional and global equations.

While describing the US remarks as largely rhetorical, he underlined that Shiites do not tolerate aggression. “Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei is among the highest religious authorities of Shiism worldwide, and even thinking about harming him could drastically alter the balance in the region and beyond,” he said.

Al-Yasser attributed Washington’s anger toward Iran’s Leader to the failure of US projects over recent decades, adding that recent unrest in Iran, like the so-called 12-day war, had ended in defeat.

Referring to US efforts to replicate destabilization models across the region, he said Washington attempted similar scenarios in Iraq through groups known as the “Jokers” during the October 2019 unrest, and in Iran through so-called color revolutions. “The US miscalculation is assuming coups or color revolutions are possible in Iran—they are not,” he said.

He emphasized that Iraq’s Shiites would never abandon Iran, noting that the al-Nujaba Movement is closely monitoring US activities in Iraq.

Al-Yasser also warned that the reported withdrawal of US forces from Ain al-Asad Air Base was merely cosmetic, with the American presence consolidated in the Kurdistan Region. He cautioned that the US has established new bases in northern Iraq, and that developments involving the SDF’s arrangements with Damascus and the advance of Jolani’s forces toward eastern Euphrates constitute serious warning signs.

He concluded by warning of a US project aimed at destabilizing Iraq through escaped takfiri prisoners in the coming period.

It is worth noting that Donald Trump, in an interview with Politico published on Saturday, January 17, said it was time to look for “new leadership” for Iran.
